Welcome to The Hub Nanaimo, your weekly insider guide to the best of community arts and culture. Did a friend forward this email to you? Subscribe to this newsletter.

This week I walked down the China Steps to Lois Lane and past the iron gate under The Queen’s to the small but scrappy campus and community radio station, CHLY 101.7FM.

I had previously volunteered and worked at CHLY but this time I was there to talk with some of the youth participating in the station’s annual summer camp, which teaches youth aged 10 to 14 media literacy and broadcasting skills.

You can read my story about the camp below and hear what camp participants have to say about their experience.

Thank you for reading,

Mick Sweetman
