High school students are getting ready for summer holidays, and a special dry punk and metal show will be held at The Globe Live Studio to celebrate the end of the school year next Thursday.

But when the members of local band End of Thread heard that Nanaimo’s only all-ages venue was at risk of closing, they turned the celebration into a benefit concert to help save the scene.

I met up with the young musicians of End of Thread right before band practice in a south Nanaimo garage and chatted with them about their music, the scene and how they express themselves while singing about serious subjects.
