This Sunday, young and old alike can break out the rods and reels for Family Fishing Day in Colliery Dam park.
This annual event hosted by the City of Nanaimo and the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC features a trout release into the water, Woodstick playing live music, food trucks, community booths and a free learn-to-fish workshop for kids aged five to 15.
Fishing rods are provided and parent participation is required for the workshops that teach kids the basics of freshwater fishing.
You can pre-register your child for a learn-to-fish time slot through the City of Nanaimo’s parks, recreation and culture department on the city website.
You can also read all of our regular events listings for music, arts and culture in Nanaimo below.
Remember, if you have an upcoming event in Nanaimo, Gabriola Island or Lantzville, you can submit it to our events calendar on our website for inclusion in our newsletter.
Thank you for reading and good luck fishing,
Mick Sweetman
