This weekend has a lot happening, but one event caught my eye. A showcase of Nanaimo’s indie rock bands.

Adrian Hunjet, The Odd Neighbourhood and Juice will take the stage at The Queen’s for a Nanaimo Indie Rock Night on Saturday.

Both Adrian Hunjet and Juice have albums you can stream online as a preview before the show and there are singles, such as “The Difference,” by The Odd Neighbourhood on Bandcamp.

There are also two free Concerts in the Park this week, with Mad Riddim Duo featuring Janelle Reid playing reggae and dub at Bowen Park on Friday and hip-hop group Tangible Two at Deverill Park on Wednesday.

• 6 p.m.: Mad Riddim Duo featuring Janelle Reid will play reggae and dub at Bowen Park as part of the City of Nanaimo’s Concerts in the Park Series. 

• 6:30 p.m.: The James Vickers Band will play an all-ages show at The Queen's. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door or $15 in advance for minors and seniors. 

• 9:30 p.m.: Western Australia duo Oceanique will play at The Queen's. Tickets cost $15 in advance.

Saturday, July 18 

• 5 p.m.: Unreal, Smash TV, Dead End Drive In, Dolly Desire and End Of Thread will play a punk show at The Globe Live Studio. Tickets cost $15.

• 10 p.m.: Adrian Hunjet, The Odd Neighbourhood and Juice will play an indie rock show at The Queen's. Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Sunday, July 19 

• 7 p.m.: Sing Nanaimo 2026 Audition at Landlubber Pub. Tickets cost $27.96.

Wednesday, July 22 

• 6 p.m.: Hip-hop group Tangible Two will play at Deverill Park as part of the City of Nanaimo’s Concerts in the Park Series.
