SPONSORED BY  CRIMSON COAST DANCE

The Discourse is grateful for our sponsors. Become one.

This week, in addition to our normal arts and culture listings, we are also bringing you two news stories in The Hub.

Normally we would have published them in our Nanaimo This Week newsletter, which is now sent out on Tuesdays, but we felt that they couldn’t wait.

The first is a report on the local Palestine solidarity movement while the second is an expanded report from our newsletter earlier this week on expenses by city councillors.

We won’t be publishing a regular newsletter on Tuesday as that is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and I will be in Duncan covering the Every Child Matters march there while our Cowichan Valley reporter, Eric, takes some well-deserved time off. Instead, we will be sending out a special newsletter early next week featuring related reporting and local events.

A MESSAGE FROM CRIMSON COAST DANCE

Choreographed by Mélanie Demers and brought to life on stage by Angélique Willkie, Confession Publique will leave you breathless.

"This confession... confronts us with the fascinating abysses of devouring and vulnerability. It is the uncompromising affirmation of a female body that no longer has to apologize for aging, for experiencing pleasure, for suffering, or even for being a disturbance. The dance is anything but decorative: it is an expiation, a living archaeology. CONFESSION PUBLIQUE is not to be watched, it is to be received, in a shudder of both trespass and gratitude. A score of paradoxes, where brutality coexists with an almost maternal tenderness."

– THE ARTCHEMISTS - Peter Loquen
