I hope everyone made it through the recent heat wave. Now that the weather is a bit cooler, we can get out and enjoy some of the amazing arts and culture in the city as well as go for a swim in the ocean or Nanaimo River.
From dance performances and punk-rock shows to local markets and a drag storytime, this week has a bit of everything.
Also, if you are out at a community event this week and like taking photos, be sure to send me your best shot to be featured (with credit) as our community photo of the week in Friday’s newsletter. You can email it to me at nanaimo@thediscourse.ca
See you around town!

|
Experience “Dance Films in the Landscape” walking through Bowen Park. Use a free map to discover site-specific dance films — available at the Port, Crimson Coast office or online. Bring your phone and earphones. For a deeper experience, join the guided walk and performance on July 9 at 6:30 p.m. (Duck Pond stairs).
The following night, July 10, features Kiss The Stormy Sky at the Port Theatre, a powerful interdisciplinary solo performance by Sid Ryan Eilers. Spanning the Russian Revolution, Second World War and the #MeToo movement, Eilers portrays four generations of family — interrogating inherited trauma, queer existence and the gender binary.
