I have a good-news story for you this week from our contributing reporter, David Minkow. It’s about an 8.5-hectare parcel of land that is being added back to Wildwood Ecoforest — located near Ladysmith — after a successful fundraising campaign.
In his story, David gets into some of the history around Wildwood Ecoforest, where trees are selectively harvested in order to keep the forest’s ecological integrity intact. We’ve covered Wildwood’s unique approach to forestry before, particularly how Indigenous and and Western forest education come together there.
You can find David’s story below.
I also want to say thank you to those of you who emailed me earlier this week with some story ideas. I’ve shared them with our team and hope to look into some of them.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
